Muvhango actors led by Dingaan Mokebe ka Khumalo called out their fans for treating them like their immune to Covid-19. “There is something that is not sitting well with me. You know we do the job we do for you people because we know you love us and we love you too. But I feel somewhere somehow the level of intolerance and selfishness from our fans is on a high level. You know we’ve got this pandemic called Covid-19 and everywhere I’ve been going I have been experiencing fans coming through and firstly they don’t wanna do social distancing, secondly they ask me to take of my mask because they wanna take pictures,” he said. Dingaani who plays James Motsamai reminded fans that a 3rd wave was being predicted. “A re we not people. Don’t we have families? Don’t we have feeling? Is it practical for our fans as much as we love you guys for people to come close and demanding to take pictures?” he asked.
The actor then walked around the studio and asked his colleagues what they had experienced concerning this topic. Zonke Mchunu who portrays Imani shared an experience she had with Bukamini Cebekhulu who plays Gugu where two fans ran and hugged them from behind without taking in mind social distancing. Mamele Mahawu who plays Susan had this to say, “We are human too. Corona can catch us too. So, please have mercy on our lives. Let’s not take pictures until this wave is done,” she said.
