The South Africa National Editors Forum is not impressed with Somizi Mhlongo’s rude and filthy answers during what was planned to be a conversation between himself and the journalists.
It seems like they tried to call him when he asked them to text instead. The journalists spoke of his husbands cheating and also the matter about him stealing the content regarding the Hastings Moeng case.
SANEF released a statement urging Multichoice to distance themselves from Somizi unless he comes out to apologize to the journalists publicly.
“Furthermore, we call on the journalists to lay charges of intimidation and for MultiChoice to officially distance themselves from Mhlongo’s comments,” the statement reads.
“Instead of responding to the questions raised, Mhlongo opted to insult Khumalo and his parents, calling them obscene names and abused Madibogo. Mhlongo further took a screengrab of the text of his conversation with both journalists and used his Instagram account to reveal the text and cellphone numbers of the journalists.”
Apparently, Somizi Mhlongo’s fans took the initiative to have everything sorted by themselves. They took the journalists contact numbers and started to threaten them for practically doing their job.
The statement continues, “We believe this is irresponsible in the extreme and potentially unlawful conduct. Mhlongo has a massive support base and a following in excess of almost 4-million on the Instagram social platform and his followers have resorted to intimidation and harassment of journalists on all social media platforms. They have subjected both Madibogo and Khumalo to torrents of insults and threats,” read the statement.
Has Somizi overstepped the line once again?
