The Fergusons answer back
Recently The Queen actor Mlamli Mangcala who portrays Captain Sthembiso Radebe on the soapie came out with guns blazing against Shona and Connie Ferguson. According to him the Fergusons through their media company Ferguson Films had treated him very poorly with broken promises of an increase in salary only to raise his salary with R100 after every season. Not only that but the first few seasons he had to pay for his flights and accommodation on his own, when they finally did give him accommodation he had to share a room with the house’s caretaker when the house had 5 other empty rooms. All in all the allegations showed the couple in a very poor light.
The Fergusons were otherwise quiet but have finally responded through their spokesperson Lauren Neil Nel. They denied giving him an increase of R100 and even said Mangcala was sometimes paid without him doing any work. Lauren had this to say to Metro FM, “The role he plays was meant for a person residing in Johannesburg and he was made aware of that but he said he will take it, he will manage. After many complaints, the Fergusons were open to making another contract for him that he would be paid monthly even if he has not worked. There has been a time where he has not worked however he was paid.” Lauren added that from season two to season three Mangcala’s expenses were over R27000.
The problem is Mlamli Mangcala is not the only one to complain about how the Fergusons treated them. Actors and actresses like Rami Chuene, Dineo Langa and Vatiswa Ndara to name a few have stories of the exploitation they have suffered at the hands of the Fergusons.
To be fair, the Fergusons also have actors and actresses who have rose to their defence like SK Khoza and Zenanda Mfenyana. I guess it’s up to you Tea Squad which side you believe.
