No beef between Bonang and Minnie
As much as Mzansi loves a good beef between celebrities Bonang Matheba and Minnie Dhlamini-Jones, there are is feud between the two.
It has always been known that Minnie and Bonang were not the best of friends. The two did not follow each other on social media and did not comment on each other’s posts. It would be expected considering their paths had crossed several times at different events including when they worked together on a SABC1’S music show, Live Amp.
The fuel to the fire was when Bonang said she had no beef with Minnie and was friends with her in an interview with Drum magazine in 2015. Minnie later on that year in an interview with Grazia magazine denied this, and said they were 100% not friends and not enemies either. In another interview with DJ Martin Bester of Jacaranda FM in 2017 Minnie confirmed that did not insta-stalk or follow Bonang.
Fans started taking sides and pitting them against each other and comparing them. Bonang was even accused of trying to steal Minnie’s shine when she held her 30th birthday party on the same day as Minnie’s traditional wedding. But it seems these two ladies rose above such petty things. A turn in their relationship seemed to occur when they worked together on a TV promo for E! Africa’s 15 years anniversary celebrations.
Minnie in another interview with Unathi Msengana at Khaya FM, Midday Joy wit Unathi, Minnie talked about Bonang. On 9 March 2020, the night of Miss Mamelodi Sundowns, Minnie introduced Queen B on stage and after that Bonang came to her whilst she was sitting on a chair. She then complemented her that she looked beautiful and assured her that will do a great job on her first solo award ceremony hosting as usually would be paid with a co-host. Minnie said the experience left her feeling emotional and grateful. She also compliment Bonang back.
