Somizi doing his part
The outbreak of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has left many destitute with no jobs, money and even homes. The only silver lining being it has brought out the spirit of Ubuntu among the people. The privileged especially have stretched out their hands to help. Among them is the multitalented Somizi Mhlongo.
The Metro FM presenter extended a helping hand by giving away R500 to the first 10 people to inbox him on twitter after posting about it. The post read, “Good morning. Myself and my husband Mohale Motaung would like to put a smile on the faces of the first ten people to inbox their numbers so we could ewallet R500 each through our foundation. SomhaleF making the world a better place one person at a time. Good luck.”
I’m his inbox was flooded because his comment section was flooded even though he had said they should inbox. Because in very little time he had posted this, “First ten people selected for the R5oo ewallet. We wish we could help more. We will do another one very soon for more people. SomhaleF.” A lot of people complained that his personal DM was locked turns out he meant the DM of his and hubby Mohale’s foundation SomhaleF. Long after he had said this people still flooded the comment section just pleading for help, posting their problems and even their number. Some ended up just emptying their frustrations on the wall, telling Somizi how better he could have helped the poor with that money.
Worry not Mzansi Somizi says that this is not the first and last time. So if you need help follow their foundation page and keep your eyes open for the next time they do. Have you done anything to help the less privileged this lockdown Tea Squad?
