Somizi clears the air on Dr Tumi’s behalf
Flamboyant choreographer Somizi cleared the air on Dr Tumi’s behalf when rumours of him being homophobic resurfaced recently on twitter.
In 2018 actress Sophie Ndaba held an event at which Dr Tumi and Lebo Sekgobela were supposed to perform along with Somizi. The event was the consecration festival of the St Oak Church of Christ in Majakaneng, Brits. Now the rumour that made headlines was that the two gospel singers pulled out of the event when they become aware that Somizi would be participating as well. These rumours left them labelled as hypocritical and homophobic. One of the headlines read that, “Gospel sensation Dr Tumi and Lebo Sekgobela pull out of event allegedly after learning that gay icon Somizi Mhlongo was going to be a guest preacher.”
A tweep by the name of Timothy saw Dr Tumi featured on True Love and reminded twitter of Dr Tumi’s attitude towards Somizi and shared his disappointment with him. “I’m disappointed highly divested and defeated to hear that Dr Tumisang is homophobic he sings about God and love. I love his music, enjoy listening to his albums and recommend to friends in media community, now I’m torn and crying,” his tweet read. He then tagged Somizi in the tweet.
Now Somizi promptly replied to the tweet, called Dr Tumi an amazing human being. “No he is not at all. That story about him not wanting to perform because I was on the line-up was false. He is such an amazing human being.”
Dr Tumi fans were happy that Somizi cleared the air. Here are some of their responses:
“Thanks Somz ke nyanya fast was starting to remove his music from my phone.”
“Thank you so much for the clarity. Yey besesinama palpitations.”
Some still called for the tweep’s head for defamation of Dr Tumi’s character. Well the two year old rumours are finally cleared. Of you are one of those who had stopped listening to Dr Tumi because of the false rumours, you can download his songs again.
